Lead Yourself Into The Future Day

Last week in year 6 we met the Donvale year 6 students! We were divided into to coloured groups and I was put in the grey group. There were 2 Donvale students in my group, they were really nice and funny.

The Cup Challenge

My favourite activities was the cup challenge, mostly because we won. The challenge involved lots of teamwork and creativity. The challenge involved cups, string and rubber bands. We couldn’t touch the cup with our hands so we put the rubber band over it and picked it up like that. The first thing we tried was stacking them one by one on top of each other. We were doing really well but then it fell down and we tried a different strategy. 

The second strategy was to build a pyramid with the cups. It worked out really well, but it wasn’t very tall so we thought of a new idea. 

The third idea we had was to tie the string around the rubber bands and then use the seats to tie the string on to hold it up. Then we put a cup inside the rubber band using another rubber band to pick up the cup and place it inside. The cup stayed inside the rubber band and it didn’t slip through the bottom to the ground. We put another cup inside the cup that was already there and it slipped a little, after that we decided not to risk the cups falling out of the rubber bands. No one else had thought of the idea so we won the challenge and were really happy! 

The challenge made us think as a team and we didn’t get angry when someone stuffed up. We pushed through and we completed the challenge
